AFRICA 2022 – Water Storage and Hydropower Development for Africa

We are pleased that, following two postponements of our next regional African event, we can now announce the new dates: 29 November to 1 December 2022.

While some papers were already accepted for the conference prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, we needed to postpone the event before completing the programme, as travel restrictions and lockdowns began.

A call for papers is therefore now open again. Please visit our AFRICA 2022 website here, and click on the ‘Africa 2022 Brochure’ button to see the updated brochure, which lists the themes to be covered in the sessions. Instructions are also given on how to submit abstracts, which should be submitted by 10 August at the latest. For those selected for presentation, the full papers will be required by the end of September.

Following the success of HYDRO 2022 in Strasbourg in April, and ICOLD 2022 in May/June, it is clear that the international hydropower and dam engineering communities are ready to meet again.

The website and brochure give details of the luxurious and spacious venue, which is accustomed to welcoming heads of state, and will offer the highest possible level of welcome and comfort to international participants.

Two study tours will offer the chance to visit the major hydro projects of Uganda, and to see more of this fascinating country. Provisional information can be found here.
